Mrs. t's Post on Wednesday, 31 May 2017
The turquoise group didn't want to miss out on the fun. The turquoise group were reading a traditional tale from China. They discovered that they were starting to read like a robot and the phonics phone reminded them to make their voice sound more interesting.

Today Lachlan, Inuja, Chloe L, Michelle and Abigail were working on fluency. They used our phonics phones to listen to themselves read. They discovered that we read really quite slowly. It is a bit boring and it makes it hard to understand what's going on in the story. We decided that fluency might need to be our new reading goal.

On Mondays we do problem solving in our Fruit Groups. Today Mrs T asked us to write instructions for getting a mouse through a maze. We thought she was a bit silly when she started to draw on the floor - were we going to pretend to be the mouse? Then she pulled out the Beebots!!!! The Beebots were going to be the mouse in the maze.
We thought it was going to be soooooo easy. Giving good instructions might not be as simple as we thought. We tried lots of different things and we had to rewrite some of our instructions. It was lucky we had our teams to share ideas with.

A big thank you to the children who returned their holiday reading logs. I was a bit disappointed with the number returned this time (about half the class). Our Room 5 kids have all made such amazing progress in their reading this year and I really want to keep them motivated and reading through the holidays, too. Any ideas you could give me to improve the use of holiday reading logs would be great! Please, email me, send me a note, come and chat... I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Congrats to our mini-marathon runners. It was a little overwhelming for some of our little people but I have been told you were super well behaved and gave it your best. That makes me really proud.
There is a Parents PE/Health survey in the post below - please share your thoughts, if you haven't done so already.

Starting this term, Juicies will be replaced by Juicy Tubes. These are a much better option, especially for children with allergies. A change in pricing is necessary. Thanks.
